Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! In this full curriculum math course, your scholar will cover Common Core standards within 6th grade math. Scholars can expect to learn material in an interactive way, and participation is highly encouraged as this helps me ensure they are retaining the material. Every scholar will be given the opportunity to participate in a way that's comfortable for them. Once topics are introduced, scholars can expect to have problems modeled for them, a chance for independent practice to check for understanding, and a mini Exit Ticket to reiterate important concepts from that session. Homework assignments will be provided at the end of each session and will be reviewed together during the beginning of the next session to check for understanding and to answer any questions. Letter grades and report cards are not offered. However, scholars will have opportunities each week to showcase their understanding of the material through homework assignments, Checks for Understanding, and other methods. Each week, scholars will have TWO sessions. There will be knowledge checks (Checks for Understanding) issued at various times throughout this course to ensure scholars are retaining the information. There will be 11 Units covered in this course as follows (Please check the syllabus for a full breakdown of the specific lessons covered each week): 1. Numerical Expressions and Factors (Lessons 1-8) 2. Fractions and Decimals (Lessons 9-16) 3. Algebraic Expressions and Properties (Lessons 17-22) 4. Areas of Polygons (Lessons 23-26) 5. Ratios and Rates (Lessons 27-38) 6. Integers and the Coordinate Plane (Lessons 39-48) 7. Equations and Inequalities (Lessons 49-58) 8. Surface Area and Volume (Lessons 59-66) 9. Statistical Measures (Lessons 67-70) 10. Data Displays (Lessons 71-74) 11. Review and 7th grade Prep It is the expectation that scholars have a paper and pencil (or other method for note-taking) with them during each class. The notes taken are critical in helping during independent work, review, and preparation. To help further understanding, scholars are encouraged to complete ALL homework opportunities to help me lead them towards mastery of the concept. *If learners require special accommodations or if there are inquiries about the support of scholars with learning differences, please message me with any and all concerns* I hope to see your scholar in class!!

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
I'm Ms. Victoria and I am so excited you are here! I am a National Board Certified teacher with a K-12 certification for Math and both Elementary and Middle School certifications for ELA (Language Arts). My joy is providing math and reading instruction along with other interesting activities and classes for elementary and middle school scholars. I look forward to sharing these experiences with your scholar and boosting their confidence in reading and mathematics, allowing them to gain peer connections, and creating a safe space for learning!
My teaching style is interactive. I love for scholars to have an input in their learning process and to share their interests, feelings, and areas they would like to see growth in. I see first-hand the effects of learning "gaps" and seek to fill them as quickly as possible through my instruction. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into more manageable steps and rethinking approaches to solving problems.
