Class Experience

 Rocks and minerals are all around us.  Do you like to play video games or watch TV? Then you are using minerals.  There are even minerals in our food that we eat.   Did you know that precious metals like gold and platinum may have come from meteors that crashed into Earth or that diamonds are created deep in the layers of earth? 
 In this one time class we will discover amazing facts about the rock cycle, minerals, gems and geodes and make a colorful geode using simple things around your...

We will discuss how we use rocks and minerals in our everyday life. 
Identify gems and minerals.  
Discuss the rock cycle. 
Create a geode

  1 file available upon enrollmentYou will need: 
Plastic cup
Water
Borax crystals (found in the grocery aisle) or SALT
Food coloring (optional) 
String

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Please monitor and help your child as we create a geode using borax crystals and water.
