Rocks and minerals are all around us. Do you like to play video games or watch TV? Then you are using minerals. There are even minerals in our food that we eat. Did you know that precious metals like gold and platinum may have come from meteors that crashed into Earth or that diamonds are created deep in the layers of earth? In this one time class we will discover amazing facts about the rock cycle, minerals, gems and geodes and make a colorful geode using simple things around your home. Through the use of colorful visuals and discussion I will make science fun and easy to understand. Muting: I do not require students to be muted in my classes. However, if I hear background noise that is distracting to myself or other learners I will have to mute your learner. They are always welcome to unmute to ask questions or share!
Learning Goals
We will discuss how we use rocks and minerals in our everyday life.

Parental Guidance
Please monitor and help your child as we create a geode using borax crystals and water.
Supply List
You will need: Plastic cup Water Borax crystals (found in the grocery aisle) or SALT Food coloring (optional) String
