General Info:
This class is for High School students, but upper middle school is welcome. The class is for those who need to learn everday writing skills that will benefit them well outside of school. Please fInd the topic and class layout in the syllabus.

About the Teacher:
I am a certified teacher in various topics, which I teach on Outschool, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees. I strive to align my classes with state standards and GED topics. Each week, your student will see a topic they need to master.

About this Class:
This class is geared towards late Middle School to early High School who have some writing experience but want to dive into everyday styles of writing. Each week we cover a new topic using a variety of learning tools and methods for all styles of learners. We will cover everything from writing emails, letters, resumes, essays, presentations, and more! I will provide feedback on all their work shared with me via Google. I edit writing classes on FRIDAYS and MONDAYS, and TUESDAYS, so depending on when you submit work, you can expect edits those days.

Class will be 45 Minutes. If it applies, the first 15 minutes of class will be based on students sharing work and anything from the previous week they want to share. The last 30 minutes will be our lesson of the week. If students do not share, then classes will be shorter that week. I encourage participation, but give wiggle room for those who do not want to share. Please allow 30-45 minutes for this class.

Following class each week, I will put a message in the Outschool classroom with a link to a Google folder where they will find resources and their activity for the week. I also link videos in the message for further coverage of topics. Click the “Show More” button on the message to access it. Class has a lecture base style with a mix of questions, discussion, videos, but a lot of content. Some weeks we practice the skills we learn, and others we cover more content.

Grading:
I do provide an overall grade for the class as a full semester/year class style, but I requiretheir weekly acticity to be turned for me to grade.

Helpful Information

1. This class is structured for 8th grade or higher.
2. Please let your student know I often have a lot to cover. I will ask questions and they are welcome to comment, but please keep questions and comments directed to the topic we are covering, and I require them to raise their hands to speak.

Refund and Pause Policy:

1. If a makeup class is set by me due to a change on my end, you will not receive a refund. You can access recordings and all resources.
2. If you must miss class, no refund is given due to there being a recording you can access after class.

Learning Goals

I have taught for many years and I am certified in various subjects, but have been certified in English for 8 years. I have taught in the classroom and in the largest Charter in the US. I have worked with students for many years on their English and grammar skills and I still see students who struggle. When students leave me, most have a solid grasp on the topic I have covered. I like making learning fun and interactive.
