In this weekly study skills class, middle school students will have an overview of what it takes to be responsible for their academic success by setting goals, creating organized spaces, and maintaining motivation. We'll cover skills such as note-taking, studying, and responsibility for your academic performance! This class will prepare students to approach their studies with confidence and independence by equipping them with practical tools to manage their time effectively, develop strong organizational habits, and cultivate a growth mindset for long-term academic success. D A I L Y R O U T I N E : 🏫Daily greetings and check-in 🏫Recap of the previous lesson 🏫Discuss what we've read so far and answer questions 🏫Practice the skill of the week C L A S S S C H E D U L E : 🎯Week of January 6: Setting Goals Students will learn how to set SMART goals based on what they are looking to accomplish. 🪴Week of January 13: Creating A Study Space Students will learn how to create a space for homework, studying, and/or homeschooling that supports learning and motivation. ✍️Week of January 20: Study Techniques 1 Students will learn and practice a research-based note-taking method called Cornell Notes. 📜Week of January 27: Study Techniques 2 Students will learn and practice an additional research-based note-taking method called SQ3R Notes. 🕰️Week of February 3: Time Management Students will learn techniques for creating a schedule and managing their time wisely. 💪Week of February 10: Staying Motivated Students will set up a plan to stay motivated during tough times. As a result of taking this class, students will have a solid starting place for building habits that can help them in any class they take. They will have goals, a schedule, and ideas for staying motivated.
