Class experience
Looking to jump into table top roleplaying games or to move away from Dungeons and Dragons? Pathfinder 2e is the next most popular choice. It is a collaborative storytelling game similar to older editions of Dungeons and Dragons. It is a game of vast possibilities where you learn to think carefully, to plan, to strategize, to persuade, to resolve conflict, to collaborate, to express yourself more clearly, and so much more, all while exploring memorable locales, meeting fascinating characters...
Due to the vastness of options in Dungeons and Dragons, students will learn and exercise many skills, including the following: -clear communication -strategy and tactics -collaborative storytelling -vocabulary -critical thinking -teamwork -problem solving -conflict resolution -resolutions of ethical and moral dilemmas -math and reading fluency -etc.
I have spent a great deal of time playing in and running many TTRPGs including Pathfinder and Dungeons and Dragons. I also have much experience teaching collaborative storytelling and D&D to new players. As far as teaching children goes, I've spent over a decade teaching ages 8-18 in the classroom in subjects ranging from Geometry and Algebra to Latin to Rhetoric, Literature, and Political Philosophy. I have served in many roles from Master Teacher to Head of Curriculum to Network Trainer to Academy Headmaster (all with Great Hearts Academies).
Though there is combat in this game, it is described in words, not images. I will also ask and require students to be conscious of their descriptions, avoiding anything grotesque or inhumane.
To prepare and run this course, I will use my experience and knowledge of (as well as references to) "The Core Rulebook", "The Gamemaster's Guide", "Bestiary 1", and the adventure "We Be Goblins".
Greetings and welcome to to my classes where I cover all things Story, offering inspiration and fun through myths and legends retellings, Dungeons and Dragons adventures, creative writing courses, literary seminars, map-making, and more. If there...
