Over the course of four weeks, we will explore different aspects of essay writing, from brainstorming and outlining to drafting and revising. Designed for high school juniors and seniors, this course is perfect for students looking to enhance their writing skills and produce memorable PIQs that will capture the attention of UC admissions committees.

What Will Be Taught?

Every class is a step-by-step journey through the essential components of writing standout UC Personal Insight Questions. We will cover:

•	Finding your unique story and voice
•	Effective brainstorming and outlining techniques
•	Writing powerful introductions and conclusions
•	Developing clear and cohesive responses to the PIQs
•	Refining your essays through revision and editing
•	Understanding what UC admissions officers look for in PIQs

Class Structure:

This class is designed to be both educational and engaging. We will meet for two intensive sessions, with each session lasting 120 minutes. 

 Classes will include:

•	Interactive workshops where students can brainstorm and develop their essay ideas
•	Group discussions to share feedback and insights
•	Writing exercises to practice key skills
•	Peer review sessions to refine drafts

Between sessions, students will be expected to write and revise their essays based on the concepts and feedback provided in class. This ongoing writing practice will help solidify their skills and ensure continuous improvement.

Questions, Not Essays- There’s A Difference!
 Learn how to identify and develop your unique story. This lesson focuses on brainstorming techniques and creating a strong foundation for your PIQs. Dive into the structure of compelling PIQ responses. We will cover how to write body paragraphs and concluding with impact.

Make An Impact- But Stay Focused!
 Focus on revision techniques to improve clarity, coherence, and overall impact. This lesson includes peer reviews and working through sample responses. Learn the final steps to perfect your PIQs, including advanced editing strategies and understanding the final checklist before submission.

Parental Guidance
This class encourages students to share personal stories and experiences as part of their essay-writing process. Parents are encouraged to discuss their child's ideas and drafts at home to further support their learning and development.
