Voice Over Acting for Video Games: Fundamentals & In-Depth Techniques
Class experience
In this class I will be teaching a variety of techniques used by working professionals for Voice Over for Video Games. Topics will include: learning to perform multiple takes of the same dialogue, additional dialogue recording (noises and extra stuff you record in sessions along with the dialogue), creating volume and distance with your voice, using vocal warmups to strengthen your voice due to the large amount of takes required for video game voice overs, audition skills, how to use a mic...
Students will learn the various techniques used by professional voice over actors to gain more confidence and improve their skills. They will also learn the ins and outs of auditioning. Whether you are just curious or want to pursue this as a career, everyone will get a chance to work in a fun and respectful way.
I have been a professional voice over actor in Hollywood for the last 5 years and a professional actor for 20. My website is www.michaelrivkin.com if you want to see and hear the work I have done. I am currently working on the animated show "Big Nate" for Nickelodeon based on the Big Nate book series. I am Mr. Galvin the science teacher. I also play a rock-and-roll Troll on the show "We Baby Bears" on The Cartoon Network, and The Rooster on "Kung-Fu Panda: Paws of Destiny" on Amazon Prime. I love working with kids, and got my start teaching at my daughter's elementary school where I taught improv. I then started teaching improv to a group of home schooled kids with learning differences, as well as at a school for gifted kids. I've worked with kids as young as 5 all the way to 18 years old. I'm now excited to teach kids how to voice over act based on my professional experience so they can learn how it's really done!
