Class Experience

Vocabulary Builder is a course that has been designed to strengthen and enrich your child's awareness and implementation of academic vocabulary words. Unfortunately, students are not being challenged to learn new vocabulary in school each year.  This is a salient skill that contributes to the reading process.  This course will be presented using a PowerPoint Presentation and a Vocabulary Workshop workbook.  Each lesson will focus on learning twenty new words for 15 classes.  The additional 5...

Students will learn and be able to use 300 new academic vocabulary words correctly.

English, Literature, Reading, Writing, and Grammar are the subject areas that my baccalaureate and master's degree training encompasses. I have more than twenty-five years of teaching  Language Arts ranging from Kindergarten to College level courses.

Any work that is not completed during the lesson should be completed at home.  Additionally, each lesson will introduce the following lesson's list of twenty words that students will be encouraged to study in preparation for the next class.

All students must have purchased the following workbook entitled: VOCABULARY WORKSHOP (new edition) by Jerome Shostak - level A

Students will need a notebook or paper and a writing utensil for each class.

Students will be administered a unit test after every three lessons taught.  This test is included in the workbook that you purchase.

6 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
