I will give a 5 minute lecture about the contributions that he made in medical history. 4. The class will be opened to discussion. Students will ask questions of me as well as their fellow students. In the materials section listed below you will find what the students will need for this class.

Parents can watch the movie "Something the Lord Made" (with students to get an understanding of who Vivien Thomas was and what he contributed to modern medicine. The movie is age-appropriate.

Students should watch the movie "Something the Lord Made" (optional but helpful). If you opt to have the learner watch the movie, I suggest either parents watch it first or with the learner. The movie has nothing to do with religion but has negative racial components. A notebook and pen or pencil to write down questions they may want to ask in class. (optional)
