Vivaldi's Winter: A Snowy Day With Classical Music & Craft! (Pre-K-2Nd Grade)

In the first part of the class, we will briefly talk about winter and our favorite things to do on a snowy day. I will introduce Vivaldi, Italian composer, and his piece "Winer". We will listen to some parts from Vivaldi's "Winter" and reenact activities that could be done on snowy day. We will listen to the music and try to guess which parts of music sound like we are playing in a snow and which ones sound like we are resting at home. We will be listening to the following parts from A....
• Who was A. Vivaldi • What composers do • What "exciting music" sounds like • What "tired music" sounds like
Materials for the craft: 1. cardboard cut out from cereal box or cookie box 2. small cardboard box, like tea box, bar soap box, or a box from cosmetics (optional) 3. white clay or play dough 4. a few twigs shaped like small trees 5. a short pine branch cut about 6 inches 6. some cotton balls 7. construction paper 8. glue 9. scissors 10. scotch tape
