Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learners will have fun reading veterinary case studies and testing their veterinary knowledge using the “Be the Vet” Book Series (Book 2). This is the second class in this series. Using the “Be the Vet” Book Series book #2, learners will read the case studies (2 chapters) each and follow along with the stories of a pet’s visit to the vet. After reading the story, learners will be asked to follow the outline in the book, taking notes on things such as the patient history, the doctor’s assessment, symptoms and injuries and the treatment plan. This will help learners see how a veterinarian works up a case. In class we will discuss everyone’s thoughts on the case, what they learned by reading it, and the teacher will review a bit more on the topics of the week. Additional videos may also be sent after class for learners to watch later in the week if they have interest in learning more on the topics that week. Week 1: Introductions and expectations. Review of the systems used by a vet as they approach a case. Chapter 1: Lethargic Week 2. Chapter 2: Itchy Chapter 3: Storm Week 3. Chapter 4: Chocolate Chapter 5: Gross Week 4: Chapter 6: Bad Breath Chapter 7: Mystery plus our final consultation This class uses the "flipped classroom method". Learners are expected to have the book in advance and will be expected to come to class having read the stories of the week and be ready to discuss their thoughts on them.
