Sometimes students may need extra time outside of class to finish a mini-project. However, I will not assign homework outside of class during this camp course. It would be helpful for students to practice and review what they have learned even for 5-10 minutes daily.Class Experience
US Grade 7 - 10
Before taking this 6-week camp course, learners should complete the first 6-week camp course on Outschool labeled: ¡Vamos a Aprender! Beginner Spanish Class Camp Part 1, which focuses on introducing students to Spanish basics and getting them comfortable with their own abilities and with using the target language. The following is what you and your learner should expect to cover in each week of camp. Week/Semana 1: Review of part 1 and the Ser conjugation chart. Week/Semana 2: Mi comida favorita- How to conjugate and use -ar, -er, -ir verbs in the present tense while talking about food and activities we like to do. Week/Semana 3: How to use Tener in the present tense and use it in idioms. Week/Semana 4: La escuela- How to conjugate and use the verbs Estar and Ir. Week/Semana 5: La casa- Learning the difference and applying the verbs Estar versus Ser, when talking about our home life and where we are. Week/Semana 6: El cuerpo y la salud- los deportes; Using verbs doler y estar to discuss our health and our wellbeing.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice Spanish basics in the 4 modes of communication. They will learn to read, write, speak, and listen in Spanish. This is the second part of an introductory course and it will, hopefully, spark the interest of my learners to further their education in a second or third (maybe even fourth!) language. Let's encourage multilingualism!
My learners will learn and practice various topics for beginner Spanish, including practice if the most useful verbs. Students will celebrate their learning by showing what they know how to do in Spanish through mini projects! Students will have the option of presenting to me or to their whole class.

Teacher expertise and credentials

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Franklin & Marshall College
¡Hola estudiantes y familias! It is great to meet you. My name is Vicky Stankowski and I teach beginner to advanced levels of Spanish on Outschool. I taught Secondary Spanish for the past nine years in Ohio. I have also taught English as a Second Language through an online platform called VIPKID for the past seven years. I have always believed that education is the key to any success a person wants and I am amazed at how accessible education is, especially in today's world. Education should be fun and it should be an engaging experience. It is a two-way street. I enjoy teaching Spanish and ESL because they foster global citizens for life!
Something personal about me... I LOVE TO DANCE! I am married to a magnificent Polish man who happens to be my high school sweetheart. We have two dogs. Many would describe me as a social butterfly. I love people. I believe in people and that is what drives me to teach the best that I can.
