Please join me for some festive, Valentine's Day fun! In this one-time class, students will explore several early literacy concepts. This class is engaging, interactive, and hands-on. Students will practice skills such as letter and sound recognition, identifying and producing rhyming words, identifying beginning sounds, writing letters, and ending sound recognition.

The class will be structured as follows:

Warm-Up: Valentine Letter Cards
The teacher will pick a valentine heart out of her basket. Students will take turns identifying each letter and coming up with words that start with the corresponding letter.

Activity 1: Mystery CVC Words
Using a PowerPoint, students will be shown 3 pictures. Together, we will identify each of the beginning sounds, write the letters on our own dry erase board, and solve the mystery by sounding out and reading the CVC word.

Activity 2: Rhyme Time
Students will be presented with different pictures. Together, we will figure out what words rhyme with the given picture. Students will record the answer by coloring on the provided handout.

Activity 3: Find the Box of Chocolates
Students will practice identifying ending sounds in words by playing a fun game.
