With this visual journal, also called junk journals, mixed media art class, you will be introduced to six ways to use India ink in your visual journal. You can focus on using only India ink in your page or exploring a combination of paint and collage. A collage is a work of art created by bringing flat materials together and layering them, such as magazine images, photographs, text, pattern paper, and more. Week 1Lesson 1India Ink How ToThis lesson deep dives into the art material, India Ink, to create a high contrast visual journal page. Students are shown six ways India Ink can be used to create their visual journal page. Guides are included for students to reference as they create their work of art.
Six different ways to use India ink are covered. Students will create one page in their visual journal that incorporates India ink into the work of art. They can focus only on India ink or use a variety of materials.
I can't remember not having art in my life. I was raised by an art teacher, got my bachelor's and master's in art education, taught art-focused summer camps, volunteered in art classrooms, and taught high school art for over 12 years. Now I develop art lessons and curriculums for other teachers or homeschool parents to implement in their art classrooms. Homework Offered
Once the demo videos and materials have been reviewed students have the opportunity to use the material and technique in their own visual journal that week.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Used hardback book to work in, India ink, paintbrush, magazines, glue, scissors
Students will control what the subject matter is in their own artwork and I don't show anything that could be upsetting or above a G rating. Students may need access to tools such as scissors.
I will provide everything students need to reference, although access to Pinterest, YouTube, and similar can be helpful to get ideas.
