Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
I am an energetic, enthusiastic teacher that believes in meaningful instruction and positive learning opportunities. In my classroom, I strive to help each of my students grow in both their confidence and their ability. I create a climate of fun, cooperative learning experiences. My students are eager to come to class, and are always left wanting more. : )

In this fun, engaging, interactive course, students will learn why and how to use dialogue in their story writing to help create the mood for their stories, develop events and characters, and enhance the quality of their stories for the reader. Students will learn the structure of writing dialogue, as well as the mechanics necessary for properly punctuating their dialogue.

Students will define dialogue, learn the rules and structure of using dialogue, and study a variety of original texts to discover how dialogue can be an essential tool in their story writing. Students will also learn and practice using expanded dialogue between two or more characters. They will have several opportunities to practice using dialogue in writing through the use of guided worksheets, group activities and discussions, cooperative writing practice, and independent writing experiences with conferencing. Students will gain the necessary tools to confidently use dialogue logically and effectively in their writing.

Class will be led by me using my own exciting slideshow that I will share with students on the screen. I will provide the necessary worksheets I created to go with this class in the classroom. I ask that each student comes prepared with the necessary materials to allow for a successful and happy experience. Students that are unable to print worksheets are able to do the work on their own paper, but please note I created these useful materials with ease of learning in mind.

Students can expect to learn and practice new skills in each class, review what we have covered, as well as participate in discussions, group activities, and independent skill work or writing daily. The final day of this course, students will have the chance to play a fun review game covering all of the skills learned in this course. The game has become a student favorite they look forward to playing.

All students are encouraged to participate in class discussions, activities, demonstrations, and writing opportunities in each class. Every student will have the chance to share their ideas, ask questions, and contribute to class discussions and activities. My classroom is a safe place where students can learn, grow, and share with confidence. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. I expect each student to respect myself, as well as the other students in my class. Kindness is key in my classroom.

I look forward to teaching your learner soon.
