With this visual journal, also called junk journals, mixed media art class, you will be introduced to seven ways to use bleeding tissue paper in your visual journal. You can focus on using only bleeding tissue paper in your page or exploring a combination of that and collage. Week 1Lesson 1How To Use Bleeding Tissue PaperStudents are introduced to a new art material, bleeding tissue paper, to create a vibrant mixed media page. A demo video is included that covers seven different ways bleeding tissue paper can be used in a visual journal.
Students will be introduced to and experiment with mixed media art, using multiple art materials, creating collages, and finding inspiration to create a unique work of art in their visual journal. They will incorporate bleeding tissue paper into their work of art using one or more technique introduced.
I can't remember not having art in my life. I was raised by an art teacher, got my bachelor's and master's in art education, taught art-focused summer camps, volunteered in art classrooms, and taught high school art for over 12 years. Now I develop art lessons and curriculums for other teachers or homeschool parents to implement in their art classrooms. Used hardback book to work in, bleeding tissue paper (not standard tissue paper, art tissue paper is needed this can be found at art and craft stores or ordered from sites such as Amazon) magazines, glue, scissors, additional flat materials such as printed pictures, scrapbook paper, and similar they want to collage with.
Students will control what the subject matter is in their own artwork and I don't show anything that could be upsetting or above a G rating. Students may need to use supplies such as scissors, supervision may be needed.
Nothing is required outside of Outschool to complete the assignment. However, it is helpful for students to be able to search for visual journal inspiration on Pinterest, YouTube, or similar.
