Welcome to U.S. History! In this week-by-week class, students will learn about European exploration of North America, the intersection and conflict among Native, European, and African cultures, and the colonization of North America. In addition, in this class, students will study the American Revolution and investigate the foundational documents of the United States, including the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and Bill of Rights. We will walk through the Industrial Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War, explore the eras of Reconstruction and the Gilded Age, and examine how the U.S. changed during the 20th century. Each week is a stand alone class so learners are encouraged are able to jump in at any time. This is a discussion based class. The first 25-30 minutes will consist of powerpoint presentations, videos, and various sources. The second half of class will consist of class discussions.
