Class Experience

This will be a fun, interactive class teaching the students the 46 U.S. First Ladies. We will see pictures of each , learn some fun facts as well as engage in light conversation and games! My teaching style is very relaxed and I love the students to have the opportunity to have conversation and ask questions. I generally lecture first with pictures and slides followed by questions and conversation. The learners need not have any any prior history knowledge of first ladies. Students will learn about the First Ladies visually (slides and pictures), we will review fun facts to make each more memorable and we will cover 6-8 women weekly. Each lesson we will review all of the names of the previously learned First Ladies before being introduced to new women. I will have the students occasionally draw some of the presidents or present a president to the class (I leave this a voluntary task as some students are shy and would be uncomfortable presenting). I like to have a lot of fun in the classroom! I also like to cover the material as well as assignments during class time so as to not assign homework. The students will leave with a lot of First Lady knowledge as well as having a great class room experience!

Learning Goals

1  Week one students will learn the names and fun facts of the first six First Ladies of the United States;
2. Week two students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies seven-thirteen;
3. Week three students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies fourteen through twenty;
4. Week four students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies through twenty-seven;
5. Week five students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies twenty-eight through thirty-four;
6. Week six students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies thirty-five through forty;
7. Week seven students will learn the names and fun facts of First Ladies forty through forty-six;
8. Week eight will be reserved for practice and competency review for each student.

Hello! I am teacher Tammy Sullivan Vaughn! 
I have a Master's degree in Psychology with an education focus. I also have a license as a counselor (LPC) and TESOL 140 hour certification to teach English as a 2nd language. 
I love learning and teaching. Interactive learning with a conversational style might best describe my teaching style. I have taught for the last 5 years in a public school environment, private tutoring and online teaching. I also have experience teaching at the university level.
My professional experience also includes having a private counseling practice, managing a very large behavioral health center, managing a large foster care agency and directing a large literacy (ESL and tutoring of youth) for the county where I currently live.
