1 in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
In this class, learners will create a bag out of an old t-shirt (no sewing required). Upcycling old items that might have otherwise been thrown away is a great way to; express creativity, save money and help our earth! During our class I will be demonstrating each step and helping learners along the way. I will be demonstrating steps with a camera that shots my workspace so learners can see my point of view of the project. I will also switch back to focusing the camera onto myself to engage with students between steps. No previous experience is required for this class! Thank you for stopping by!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from California State University Sacramento
Hello,
My name is Amy Malone. Thank you for your interest in my classes. I began learning to sew at the age of 4, I was taught by my loving, encouraging and artistic mother and by my meticulous and incredibly skilled grandmother, I believe both of these approaches have shaped my love of sewing and my teaching style. I hold a degree in Theater Arts from California State University Sacramento where I studied costuming, draping, puppetry and stage design. I also worked at the school's costume shop throughout my collage experience where I had the opportunity to work under a true master of the craft! After collage I spent 7 years teaching sewing to kids ages 7 to 18 at a studio in Lafayette, CA where I became lead instructor. I left teaching to stay home with my own 3 children, now that they are all in school, I am excited to get back into teaching. I have worked with tons of kids over the years and I am always amazed to see the unique and creative ideas that they come up with. In my classes I create an accepting, supportive and creative space where kids can express themselves and inspire each other. I will be teaching classes that are focused around a fun project that teaches specific and foundational sewing skills along the way. I look forward to being a part of your learner's creative journey.
