Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Is your learner getting the hang of short vowel words? Are they ready to take the next step, but need some help to confidently increase their reading skills? Let's learn together!

In this one-time class, young readers will learn about "silent e." Sometimes, we call him "bossy e" because he makes the first vowel say his name! We'll go through the process of how "cut" becomes "cute," "can" becomes "cane", and "bit" becomes "bite."

Your learner is invited to follow along using their printable worksheet. It has 20 CVC/CVCe combinations in dotted font for them to trace, and one picture per pair of words. Your learner is encouraged to circle the word that best fits the picture. This will help deepen their understanding of CVCe spelling, as well as help with reading comprehension. This worksheet will complement the words and pictures they see on screen. This worksheet isn't mandatory, but will increase their learning and memorization as they both "see" and "do" to learn.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you'd like to request a specific time for class. Taking into account availability and varied time zones, I'll do my best set up a section for your learner.

See you in the classroom!

Hello! I hope to have you join me in my classroom! I have a degree in education and have taught first and second grade and high school English in a private school. For the last 9 years, I have homeschooled my own children, which included teaching each of them to read. From the very beginning, we found that a strong phonics foundation was the key to reading success. Hope to see you soon!
