Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Please join me for a fabulous adventure to become a magical Unicorn. In this one-day class, learners will become a Unicorn at Unicorn University through coloring, sharing, and hands-on activities. We will begin class by introducing ourselves. I encourage learners to bring a stuffed Unicorn or a similar item to share with the class. Each child will be given a special Unicorn name by the teacher.

First, learners will decide what they should look like. Learners will use the provided handout to decorate and design their Unicorn horn and mane. While students are coloring, the teacher will help spark the imagination by asking questions to promote an interactive discussion (What do Unicorns eat? What do they do for fun? What special things can they do?)

Next, learners students will learn a few fun facts about horses. Learners will compare and contrast horses and Unicorns through an interactive discussion lead by the teacher.

Lastly, learners will discover facts about rainbows, such as what causes a rainbow and the order of colors found in a rainbow. Kiddos will complete a simple rainbow craft using a paper plate, markers, glue, and cotton balls.

After class, learners will be sent a play doh mat in which they can turn an ordinary horse into a Unicorn to extend the fun even after the class if over. Each learner will be sent a personalized certificate after class for graduating Unicorn University.

This class is engaging and very interactive. I cannot wait to discover the magical world of Unicorns with your child.

Hi! My name is Emily. I have been married for 7 years. We have two precious boys. I have had a passion for teaching since I was a little girl. I was the kid that lined up her dolls and gave them homework.

I received my B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Gordon College in 2012. I received my M.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in 2015. I have 7 years of formal classroom experience. I spent 1 year teaching in Pre-K and I taught Kindergarten for 6 years. I am currently an online ESL teacher to students across the world.

My number one goal is for my students to leave my classroom feeling more enriched than when they entered. I believe learning should be relevant and fun. I am a huge believer in play-based learning. I believe hands-on learning sparks creativity and enriches the imagination. I have a passion for teaching beginner math and literacy skills. I enjoy teaching around themes that are interesting and make students excited about learning.

I offer a wide variety of classes. My classes will teach and enhance beginner math and literacy skills, while also sparking the imagination through intentional play. I love to incorporate crafts, songs, movement, and even edible "crafts" to make learning more concrete. My classroom will always be inviting, interactive, and engaging. I am so excited to meet your child. I cannot wait to be apart of your child's educational journey!

Let's learn and have fun together.
