Class Experience

In this one time class learners will listen to a read aloud of my favorite unicorn book- Thelma the Unicorn!

Identifying the moral of a story is an important skill when analyzing narrative stories. Let's practice it with a fun read aloud!

In a guided discussion we will briefly discuss the story element: moral/lesson

The teacher will read "Thelma the Unicorn" to the learners.

Together we will identify the moral or lesson of "Thelma the Unicorn".

We will discuss the importance of loving yourself and being who you are.

At the end we will do a directed drawing of a unicorn.

Learners can feel free to wear a special unicorn horn or unicorn shirt to class.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am Teacher Amber! I am a licensed elementary teacher in Kansas and a mom of a 5 and 7 year old. We are a family that loves spending time outdoors camping, hiking, and biking. We love exploring our own state as well as traveling to the mountains.

I love to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, and other early reading skills. I enjoy helping kids get excited about their journey to be readers, whatever stage that may be.

I also enjoy facilitating social time between young learners. I like to give them a space to practice speaking and conversational skills.

I believe it's important for kids to feel successful at whatever stage they are in with what they are learning. I ensure this by meeting the student where they are and moi building on what they already know.

Whenever we are not adventuring and I am not teaching I spend my free time cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing!
