Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 10
Writing is thinking and thinking is essential! Mastering the essay allows students to organize their thoughts and present them in a logical way. This class will focus on instilling students with the right methods to generate strong ideas with which to develop and strengthen coherent arguments. The essay being written will be a comparison essay where we will take seemingly unrelated concepts and show how with a bit of critical thinking, investigation, and strong arguments, they are actually related in important ways.
Students will develop dynamic writing skills to make any essay impactful.

Not only will the students develop their thinking and writing skills but they will understand the importance of such an essay as it helps the reader have an open mind or even reconsider their original opinions. The essay writing process will be structured as follows: idea generation, thinking and reading, planning, outline, studying examples, using a template, and finally creating their own full essay. This step-by-step process will help students become confident in their abilities and develop their critical thinking skills.

Throughout this 4 week class students will learn the methods to writing a perfect essay and also learn WHY. Writing is extremely important for all students but it’s tough. This class will show students how breaking it into easily understandable steps can help. Perfect for grade 9’s and 10’s, and anyone who struggles with putting their ideas down on paper.

Hello! I am an online teacher with 4+ years experience.

I have been teaching learners for many years in Toronto and abroad and strive to make my classes engaging and fun. I believe that learning should be social so I encourage students to participate and discover together. I love learning and sharing ideas about math, science, history, music, English, and much more. Students are always welcome to ask for help or clarification.

In Toronto, I run a nonprofit providing free tutoring and hope to grow this project to help students in Canada.
My favourite dish to cook is Thai curry!
