Want to develop your character and figure drawing skills? Want to impress your friends with incredible action-packed art, grow in creative confidence, and make character art that you're proud of? Then join the weekly Ultimate Character Battle Class, where you will learn how to draw epic character battle posters every single week. We'll cover everything from character shape, forms, figure anatomy, perspective, foreshortening and more. Drop in any week or stay for multiple--you'll learn a new technique and leave with art you’re proud of! This class is for lovers of iconic characters from Anime, Comics, Games and more. This class is for people with awesome character battle ideas that want to learn how to draw dynamic poses and compositions. Both beginners and advanced artists alike are welcome! Students will learn how to draw each character from start to finish and how to combine what we learn (in each lesson and together) into exciting compositions you would want to hang on your wall. We will explore the compositions and poses from popular comic, anime and concept artists to determine how to create dynamic compositions. We will use our understanding of character art and compositions to make exciting character battle posters. You'll even be apply to apply your learning to your own characters or stories that may include action poses. Each class we will spin a wheel to determine the genre and characters we will draw from. Genre: Games, Movies, Comics, Anime, Cartoons Characters: Games: Mario/ Anime: Sailor Moon We will warm up with a study of each chosen character's shape language. We will do sketches of the pose the characters will embody using an expressive stick figure and the shape language of the characters on top. We will render the sketch with details, ink our linework and erase pencil marks. Share our work and give feedback to one another. Each class will feature 2 new characters in new poses. Students will understand the shapes and forms used to design characters in order to place iconic characters in epic battle poses. This class is continuous and welcomes new learners every single week. You can join at any point and not miss a beat. You can drop in for just a week or stay as long as you'd like. Many learners join and stay for 20, 30, 40 weeks or more! Lessons exist as stand-alone topics, but the longer you stay, the more techniques you'll learn, and the more your skills will grow. Supply list: paper pencil, eraser Sharpie/ Pen optional: coloring utensils 💪 RJ STERLING, ILLUSTRATOR AND EDUCATOR RJ Sterling is a certified visual arts educator and freelance illustrator who has self published 8 comics and completed a variety of artwork for clients from comics and character designs to portraits, tattoo designs and logos. RJ Sterling discovered his passion for drawing when he first opened the pages of Marvel and DC Comics. RJ learned to draw by studying the visual styles he saw in his favorite comic books. His favorite characters to draw are Spiderman and Batman. To develop his technical skills, RJ pursued illustration and comic design at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He received his BFA in Illustration and a year later his MFA in Art Education. As a teacher, RJ finds joy in aiding the discovery of art-making and visual thinking with his students. Students learn not only how to draw in his classes, but also how to creatively problem-solve, communicate, and think. As an illustrator, RJ loves working with people to bring their wildest ideas to life. In the time RJ is not drawing or teaching, he is playing his Playstation 5, reading books or enjoying time with his wife Annie.
