Ms. Becky, owner of New Horizons Academy, is a licensed English and Journalism teacher of over 13 years. She has reasearched AI extensively and used AI responsibly in her business, and sees many students that realize the power of AI, but lack the knowledge of how to use it constructively and responsibly. After attending many trainings on AI use in education, Ms. Becky has put together this course to share that extensive knowledge with students everywhere.
Homework Offered
Week 2 Homework: Use AI prompts to create a short piece and reflect on the experience. Week 4 Homework: Use AI to develop a plot and characters for a short story. Week 7 Homework: Ethical writing assignment: Students create a short piece using AI assistance and include proper citations. Week 9 Homework: Advanced writing project: Students apply advanced AI tools to create a more complex narrative or explore a specific writing style. Week 10 Homework: Complete your writing assignment, keeping all forms of your writing process together to show the progression. Week 13 Homework: Students create an outline, first draft, and AI-reviewed second draft to bring to the next class. Week 14 Homework: Final research paper draft: Students submit a polished research paper incorporating AI-generated content and insights for teacher review.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
