No experience necessary. Students require a ukulele for this class. Get started with great technique! In this 5 day beginner's course, students will learn the foundations of playing the ukulele. Students will learn how to hold the ukulele. Students will learn the names of the strings. Students will learn to count and strum simple rhythmic patterns. We will learn chords (C, Am, F, G). We will learn to play 2 pop songs with an easy strum (Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars and I'm Yours by Jason Mraz). I will demonstrate the chords and songs. In this beginner group class, the students practice mainly on mute and are unmuted occasionally for me to check in on their technique and understanding. In a group of this size, they usually unmute once per class. For students who prefer more feedback, I recommend my semi-private or private lessons. Parents - please make sure to help your child tune their ukulele before each class. There are many great tuning apps available. If you need assistance, please let me know and I would be happy to meet before class to assist with tuning. I recommend that students sit on a chair for the lesson.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:
-Technique - how to hold the ukelele with good posture
-Left hand technique - shape and position of the left hand on the neck of the ukulele
-Right hand technique - beginner strumming patterns
-Instrument knowledge - the parts of the ukulele and how to tune it
-Exercises for finger strength
-Chords (C, Am, F, G)
- 2 pop songs (Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars and I'm Yours by Jason Mraz)
