Class Experience

Ukulele lessons for young students who are somewhat new to the instrument. Learners must have completed Uke Can Do It: Ukulele Lessons for Young Beginners Part 1 or have prior experience learning the ukulele, playing the C and F chords, and switching between chords to enroll in this course.

This ukulele class will allow students' first experiences with the instrument to be fun, memorable, and frustration-free! There will be engaging prerecorded video lessons, activities, and song sheets provided for practicing. Learners will have access to a Google Slides presentation to review the material learned throughout the course. Learners can work on the lessons, chords, and songs at their own pace and watch the video lessons as many times as they wish. There will be opportunities to interact with the teacher by posting questions and thoughts in the classroom. The teacher will be available to answer any questions that learners may have as they are learning and practicing and provide tips to help with improvement. Learners are encouraged to submit a video after completing each lesson demonstrating the technique, chords, and/or songs learned. This will allow each learner to receive individualized feedback and useful tips that will help them improve and master basic ukulele technique. Learners will share their answers to reflection questions, celebrate what they did well in the course, set goals for what they hope to continue to improve on, and what they hope to learn in the future.

Assignments and video lessons will be posted in the Classroom. The teacher will provide each learner with feedback on their progress after each video assignment is submitted.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and review the basics of ukulele including how to hold the instrument, playing position and rest position, how to strum, proper hand and finger position, simple chords, how to count and play chord patterns, and how to play multiple popular children's songs. I am a certified music educator with a M.A in Music & Music Education. I fell in love with the ukulele over a decade ago, and have been playing and teaching it ever since. I have been teaching group ukulele classes for 10 years. I also have taught private music lessons for 15 years. I love this instrument and specialize in teaching beginning instrumental music lessons to young beginners. The ukulele is a happy instrument, so my goal is to make learning the ukulele fun and frustration-free.
