Class Experience

It is NEVER too late to learn to type the correct way!
Learn to type the correct way! - Help to improve your typing skills for essays, lessons, stories, assignments, coding and more.

In this 4 lesson introduction to keyboarding class, students will be introduced to the computer keyboard to learn touch typing, which is typing without looking. Students will build the foundation of correct typing techniques by learning all the letter keys and punctuation, utilizing all ten fingers. Our goal is to introduce correct techniques and guide learners through practice sessions to build muscle memory for typing. Committing typing to muscle memory frees you from devoting mental energy to thinking about each letter as you type it. You’ll be able to focus on the content of what you’re typing rather than thinking about (or looking for) the next key to press.

1️⃣ Laying the foundation - We teach you where each of your fingers go, and the best movements to take to press each key.
2️⃣ Correcting your mistakes - From the beginning, it’s important to take the time to do things right so your muscle memory is built to type with correct finger movements. We guide learners to recognize their own mistakes while typing AND why these mistakes might be occurring.
3️⃣ Strengthen your muscle memory - Each repetition slightly strengthens your brain’s memory of “the right way” to perform the task and consolidates the results into muscle memory. Each practice session reinforces and strengthens the stored muscle patterns, making it easier to recall in the future. Eventually, you won’t even have to consciously think about it; your body just knows what to do.

Our goal is for learners to get through lessons for as many of the letters of the alphabet in this beginner-level class. All students learn at their level of comfort and pace. Accuracy is most important for learning typing at this level.

We use the website EduTyping.com in this class and follow their Beginner typing curriculum and practice lesson exercises.

Everyone learns to type at their own unique pace and speed. Not all students will be working on the exact same lesson during class. This is a live class but it is an individual student paced.

🍎Mrs. Lisa T. - Hello, my name is Mrs. Lisa and I'm an experienced educator with a diverse background. My areas of expertise and certification include Kindergarten through 6th grade teacher, 7th and 8th grade all four core areas, Gifted and Talented Teacher and Director of Education, Special Education Grades 4 through 12 specialist as well as building principal for PreK through 8th grade. During Covid shutdowns and quarantines I discovered that my students and I loved the online platform. I taught in a one to one school. Every student had a laptop as well as a school hotspot if their family asked for one. I chose not to do the minimum "office hours" as my school required. I felt this did not meet my students' needs. I ran an online classroom during regular school hours as well as recorded the class for those students who were unable to connect with us or needed to hear the lesson more than once. My experience as a principal resulted in greatly improved learning for all students. The gifted students improved as well as those with learning disabilities. I believe in high expectations for all. High expectations that are attainable
