Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
This is a Math Subtraction Class. PowerPoint presentation flashcards. We will move along as fast as your student is able. I start with lower numbers such as 1-0=1, 2-1=1, ... moving to 5-2=3... 20-19=1. The focus is on the lower numbers with an introduction to 20 minus, 30 minus, up to 100-99=1. I have this class because, as I have been teaching students in public and private schools, I find that many students are not as skilled with simple subtraction as they should be. I see students struggling in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even in 4th grades. As with most students doing flashcards is extremely helpful and generally takes more than one time through the flashcards to master simple addition. This class is just 35 minutes long. This is long enough for most students. If needed I will go up to 50 minutes if your student is not losing interest and needs more time. I like to interact with the students by talking about fun topics. A student can share a fun time or a toy they like etc. Students do need to know their numbers 1 to 100. For those students who need help counting please see my class: Easy Peasy-I Can Count to 100. Most classes will be about 35 minutes. I also have an Addition Class for ages 5 to 8.
Learning Goals
The goals is to have the student master simple Subtraction in their head and not using their fingers to count. This will greatly help them with their in-class work, homework and tests.
