In this 2-week camp, we will travel to all 50 states and learn about what makes each state unique. Children will learn the location of each state along with its capital and when it became a state. Each student will get the opportunity to meet other children from around the country and possibly the world while sharing information about their home state and what states they have traveled to. We will cover the most populous cities in the nation along with the country's climate, geography, and wildlife. There will be printable worksheets following each class. We will also practice singing "50 Nifty United States" each day to help memorize all 50 states. Students will also have the opportunity to tell other children about their favorite state on the last day of camp. **Please note that this class is in the same format as my "Travel the USA" classes, but it is condensed into a 2-week camp rather than a 10-week course** We will learn about each state and it's capital as shown below: Day 1: Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada Day 2: Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico Day 3: Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas Day 4: Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin Day 5: Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Day 6: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee Day 7: North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia. I have been teaching geography for years in my own homeschool curriculum through unit studies. I greatly enjoy bringing art, music, science, geography, math, social studies and language arts into a lesson that is fun and engaging. I have lived in the United States for the great majority of my life and have greatly enjoyed learning more and more about what makes each region and state unique. I cannot wait to learn more and to share this great country with your student!
