This novel study is about a girl in NYC as she learns about 9-11 and the impact it has had on her family.

US Grade 4 - 6
During this course, students will read Towers Falling by Andrea Beach. We will meet and discuss the reading and the story. Topics we will discuss are: ** The facts about what happened on 9-11 ** The perception we have on different races and the harm in judging by race ** Building relationships and the importance of friendship ** How trauma affects families and how it can change things ** Poverty ** Our place in the community Students will be assigned a section to read between classes and then...
** Students will learn communication skills. ** Students will learn about 9/11 ** Students will learn reading comprehension skills.
Homework Offered
Students will be reading from the book between classes. Students will have to read approximately 50 pages a week. The first week- We will discuss the background of the book and what we already know about 9/11. Due for the second meeting- beginning of the book through the "Homework" chapter Due for third meeting- finish through the chapter "Sour" Due for fourth meeting- complete book including the Author's Note0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
