Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner Level
This interactive, two week discussion based class is not only informative....but fun. Students learn about how inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity may interfere with productivity at home, while learning, and while doing a variety of tasks.

The focus of the class will be on putting the different tools that students learn about to work. We will practice deep breathing, strategies to sustain attention, and techniques to deal with impulsivity. We will incorporate practicing chunking, utilizing movement breaks, and using fidgets to focus, into our class. Lots of examples will be given and there will be active practice using the strategies suggested.

This class is broken up into two sessions so that information is chunked and not overwhelming. In the first class, concepts will be introduced related to inattention and strategies will be practiced. The class will conclude with an interactive activity. On the second week, concepts and strategies will be reviewed from the first week and then strategies for managing hyperactivity and impulsivity will be discussed. No experience or prior knowledge is necessary.

As a disclaimer, this class is not a substitution for mental health treatment, counseling, or therapy. This class has an information and educational focus.
