Class Experience

This class will begin with introductions. I will sing a welcoming song/fingerplay "Five Little Pumpkins" to the learners. Pictures from the book Too Many Pumpkins, by Linda White, will be shown in a PowerPoint slide presentation as I read the story aloud. Following the story, I will lead the students in a step-by-step drawing of a pumpkin. After they complete the drawing, they will color it. If the step-by-step drawing is too challenging, they will be encouraged to color a picture about the story or work on a coloring page attachment. They will have the opportunity to share their picture with the rest of the class. I will invite the learners to talk about their favorite part of the book.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
If the step-by-step drawing is too challenging for younger learners, there will be a coloring page option. They are also free to draw their own fall picture. There is no mention of Halloween in the adapted fingerplay or story; however, there are pictures of jack-o-lanterns (called "pumpkins") in the story.
