Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
In this class, I will be reading a book titled 'Rainbow' and showing pictures of different rainbows, explaining how they are formed, as well as presenting factual information about them. The learners and I will engage in conversation about those pictures and facts, and after discussion I will demonstrate how to make our snack of rainbow toast. I will proceed step by step, giving the learners the opportunity to follow along. As we finish our tasty creations, we will enjoy eating them together.

Learning Goals

After learning some facts about rainbows, students will learn how to combine ingredients to make a snack, including simple measurements of some.

Parental Guidance
The final step to making our toasty rainbows will be toasting the bread, which will require parental assistance. Parents may guide their students as they put the bread into a toaster and remove the slices as they are done.
Supply List
To make toasty rainbows you will need: 2-3 slices of white bread, food coloring, whole milk to color, 6 small cups to mix 6 colors, q-tips or small paint brushes to paint the bread. You will need a toaster to toast the colored bread (Parents may help with this step.) An optional ingredient is sugar, or cinnamon sugar to sprinkle on toast to make it glisten.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
