US Grade 6 - 9
This class will cover basic government ideas in the area of the three branches of government and checks and balances. We we start with a warm-up activity, then students will hear information about each branch, with each branch students will have interactive activities and discussion questions with each branch. Students will have opportunities to hear information through lecture and slides, play retention games (like Kahoot!), and do some research about their representatives. It would be helpful if students could split screen during class or have a secondary device for kahoot!. Although, it isn't necessary, it will add to the fun!
Learning Goals
By the end of the class, students will know the 3 branches of government, the people associated with them, and the powers that they have. Students will also describe the idea of checks and balances.
