This course will discuss WHY you "add" and keep the sign when the signs are the same (both positive or both negative) and why you "subtract" and keep the sign of the larger number when the signs are different (one is positive and one is negative). Students will draw pictures and use those pictures to better understand what the problem means to help them remember the property. This class is designed for students who have been introduced to negative numbers and struggle to remember the math property while adding or subtracting. This class will be a "I do", "We do", "You do" type structure. Students will listen and watch an example being done, then we will do an example together, finally they will do a problem on their own. Students will then show their work and share their answer with the other students. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions.
