Beginner Level
As kids get older they have more constraints on their time and seemingly even more distractions. It becomes easy to give up on accomplishing what is important. I use research based data to deliver tried and true methods so that the student will learn skills now that will serve them well into adulthood. In this course, students will learn how to keep track of their time so that they may better manage it. They will be taught how to track their time, identify their priorities, create a useful "to-do" list, identify time wasters, and more! They will also be taught through stories and examples the "why behind the what", meaning, for example, why they should track their time or why they should not be on their cellphones the hour before bedtime. The course will be a mix of presenting information, discussion via the Outschool platform, and opportunities to apply what has been learned. With a four-session self-paced class there are scaffolded activities that allow for students to choose from different options and try them out. Plus, with teacher feedback and check-in, learners are held accountable for following through. Each lesson will consist of: 1. Introduction to Time Management, measuring your current time management strategies, and how to track your time. 2. Analyzing physical or virtual time trackers, utilizing them, and using that data for setting priorities. 3. Strategies for eliminating distractions. Turning priorities into "to-do's"; determining if a planner or to-do list is best. 4. Follow up and analysis after a week of implementation and how to continue well past the conclusion of the class. Please note, for learners wanting teacher feedback, the instructor will attempt to respond within 48 hours of a message submission, however, in some cases, it may take as long as the next Sunday.
