In this one-time class, we will learn about the video that went viral on Tik Tik of a very green chopped salad. The recipe and video was made by Baked By Melissa who usually makes sweets. But this salad video went viral and your learner will love to learn how to make this super easy and delicious chopped salad and dressing in the blender Learners will have an opportunity to really practice using a knife by chopping and slicing a variety of vegetables that are all green. This incredibly delicious salad will make your learner very confident with their "cooking skills" by creating this salad that can be a full meal, a side dish or even a fun dish to have for a party. It's also wonderful to eat with tortilla chips and a full meal. We make homemade tortilla chips, too! Learners will truly practice using a knife so parents and guardians are needed to be on hand and supervise so that learners are safe and also understanding how to position their hands, fingers and stance to gain excellent knife and chopping skills that will last their whole life in the kitchen. Warning: this salad is so delicious you may eat it right from the bowl standing at the counter and never make it to the table sitting down. 😊
Learning Goals
Leaners will make a very green recipe that is healthy, nutritious and delicious.
They will also gain a true understanding of how to use a knife properly both chopping and cutting skills.
We will use all the ingredients from the recipe list and learners will also understand how they can modify this recipe
depending on which foods they have at home.
We will be using a large cutting board, a knife and a blender. These are kitchen staples that learners will practice with
and gain confidence in making dressing or sauces using a blender for a variety of other recipes.
