CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant) like cat, dog, or sun are the first step to opening the world of reading independently! In this class we will play games in order to become more fluent readers. 1. Class will start with hellos and the option to share something good! 2. We will review letter sounds and read a list of 10 CVC words. This will be our starting score which we will try to beat at the end of class! 3. Next we will manipulate sounds by playing with letter tiles. 4. Does it rhyme? Students will play a listening game to identify CVC words that rhyme. 5. We will play a dice game where students will roll a vowel to try to make a real word. 6. Onto a change the word game where students will swap letters to make real and nonsense words. 7. Finally, the class will end with reading the word list presented at the beginning of class to see if fluency has improved over the session. Can we beat out score? Before enrolling in this course, students must know all letter sounds. After the session, an easy, at-home game will be posted in the classroom for continued practice. Learners of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome. Miss Raz strives to create a safe and supportive space for all learners. If your learner needs any accommodations, please inform Miss Raz. We will work together to create a positive learning environment for your scholar.
