Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner Level
Theatre games are a fun, low-pressure way to introduce children to the fundamentals of being an actor! Students will learn a warmup exercise and a few games. No prior knowledge is required, just an interest in creative expression and maybe a flair for the dramatic! Examples of games played in class will include (but are not limited to): Alien-Tiger-Cow, Red Ball, Crazy Answers, Jumping Jelly Beans, and many more! These games are great to play with family, friends, or even at school for a brain break!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome to Outschool!

My name is Jamie Pavlofsky and I am a proud musical theater nerd! I live in Dayton, OH, USA where currently I work on about four shows a year. I have been performing since 1998 and have been involved in nearly thirty productions, both on-stage and off. When I am not on stage, I LOVE being a teaching artist! I have worked as a teaching artist since 2017 and have held positions with the Dayton Jewish Federation, Brighter Connections Theatre, Town Hall Theatre, the Victoria Theatre Association (now Dayton Live), and virtually with Pink Umbrella Theater Company in Milwaukee, WI and CATCO in Columbus, OH. I believe that an artist must also be a student and am currently studying voice and acting with Philip Drennen at TheatreLab Dayton.

I value emotional safety in my classroom, and all individuals, identities, and abilities are welcome in my classes. As an artist with a disability, I am especially passionate about the inclusion of differently-abled performers. I spent two years as a teaching artist for a program designed to serve youth with autism, where we used theatre to teach social and emotional recognition skills. I firmly believe in the power of theatre to facilitate social-emotional learning, and my goal is to create an inclusive performance space where artists of all abilities can come together to create and thrive.

My Outschool classes focus on musical theater history for middle and high school, and theater games and acting fundamentals for beginning performers in grades 2-6. If there is a class you are interested in, but a time that works for you is not listed, please reach out to me and we can discuss alternate times for class!

I can't wait to meet you and have tons of fun!
-Ms. Jamie 💙
