US Grade Kindergarten - 3
In this weekly ongoing class we will learn about the some of the world's craziest and creepiest spiders! Students will be introduced to spiders they may have never heard of and given some details about each spider. Videos may also be shown when a particular spider has something interesting that they do. Everything from super cute spiders to some of the creepiest will be shown while also stressing that each spider has it's place in our ecosystem! Students will be able to ask any questions they have during and after each week's presentation. Additionally, there will be a handout for the kids to take notes on or draw pictures of their favorite spiders. If time permits there may also be an additional creative activity. My class setting is a relaxed, fun, open space for students to be able to discuss and express their thoughts about what we are learning. I encourage student interaction with not only myself but with their fellow classmates. Everyone is expected to be respectful and listen to one another but also feel like they have the ability to share their own thoughts and opinions. I believe learning should be fun and try to provide a space for that to happen. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of California Riverside
Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and three cats! I like online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
