Are you LOQUACIOUS? Or maybe VERBOSE? Didn’t get any of that, huh? Well this class is for you! For ages 13-up, in this course students will learn new accelerated vocabulary through pictures and rhyming words with fun vocabulary! We will examine the origin of these words through learning the history and time period for which it derived! Learn something new and "tickle your funny bone " at the same time! Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary is a 55 minute easy vocabulary course. Classes begin daily with a quick introduction to the words of the day. Learners will learn 5 new words used in the English language and their origins per class. We discuss the word and how to use them in proper context and practical ways that we can use what we’ve learned. Classes are once a week and students can drop in at anytime as you don't have to have been here previously to understand each lesson! Class 1) Week of Jan 12: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 3/7/24 Featured Topics: expose, benefactor, malapropism, cumbersome, gossamer, Class 2) Week of Jan 12: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 1/12/25 Featured Topics: industrious, lackadaisical, feckless, neologism , galvanized, Class 3) Week of Jan 19: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 1/19/25 Featured Topics: archaic, barbarism, herculean, narcissist, scrumptious Class 4) Week of Jan 26: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 1/26/25 Featured Topics: cherub, sublime, cosmogony, diabolical, peevish Class 5) Week of Feb 4: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 2/4/25 Featured Topics: stringent, tantamount, travesty, spurious, ossify Class 6) Week of Feb 11: Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary 2/11/25 Featured Topics: omnipotent, perpetuate, penchant, amorphous, epitome, Ongoing classes do not have an end date so once the above topics are complete new topics will be introduced in the upcoming weeks. The English language is beautiful. There are various ways to say the same thing, of course some more eloquent than others.! Together, we will take a small step into developing our vocabulary skills, and wrap up every class with a Kahoot game! No worries if you are not perfect, this class is all about having fun and learning. No prior knowledge is required. Just a pen, paper and a separate device with Kahoot when logging in!

Hello, and welcome!! My students (and friends) call me Ms. Erica!
I love idioms! I love vocabulary! My parents often spoke in parables around the house when I was young. Since discovering the term “idioms” as a child, I’ve been a mental collector of them, reciting them often, researching their origins, history and stories since I was a kid! I also read the Childcraft Dictionary and Thesaurus for fun! While learning about idioms and vocabulary, I learned the beauty of language, culture, and became an avid reader and lover of vocabulary, adages, poems and other expressions of the English language! I still study them, so I would say I am a self-proclaimed expert in the field with a passion to share what I know!
I love poetry, art, music and different expressions of the human cultural experience!!! In my spare time I paint a lot! A lot can be learned through the music and artistic expression of people around the world.
Teaching is my passion, and for the past 22 years, I have been lucky to do what I love. I teach 3 classes totaling about 90 teenagers daily. I run a Multi-Cultural Homeschooling Group of over 200 families where I teach children ages 8-12 a variety of subjects. I am also a full-time homeschooling mom to my amazing 11-year-old daughter.
I have a passion to share what I know! In my classes I provide extraordinary experiences through unique use of humor and video during lessons making learning fun in our relaxed classroom setting.
I am always excited to learn new things! The best investment you can make is the one you make in yourself! I work consistently to improve my skills, and continuing professional training is absolutely an integral part. Every year I take advanced instructor training courses to stay abreast of the current teaching methods and techniques available to prepare for fantastic individual learning opportunities. I pride myself on this.
