Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
In this 4 week Self-Paced class we will break down the heroes and events of the fictional Trojan War. 
Each week will focus on 1-2 characters. We will start before the war with Paris and Helen and the events that led to the war. Then we will cover two of the wars greatest fighters, one from either side, and how the ended up facing each other in battle. The third week will discuss the end of the war from the Greek side and how it affected one man's journey home. We will end with how the war ended for the Trojans and Aeneas's quest to find a new home for his people despite one Goddess's determination to stop it.
Every week will have an activity to do about the content that week.
Below is a list of the characters being discussed and the activities for each week.

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Paris and Helen
 This lesson covers the causes and two of the major characters in the Trojan War. There is a video for each character and a follow up discussion post.

Lesson 2:
Hector and Achilles
 For this lesson, we will cover two of the greatest fighters in the Trojan War. One fighter from each side. We will also discuss several of the major events during the war. There will be an audio/video activity for this lesson. 
14 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Odysseus
 Odysseus was another major Greek player in the Trojan War, but this lesson discusses his role in the war and how it effected his journey home. This lesson is followed up by an art challenge with several options for you to choose from. 
15 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
Aeneis
 Our final lesson covers a story that runs parallel to the Odyssey. Aeneis was a Trojan Hero who also spent many years after the war on journey, though for a different reason. Once you have watched his video, you will have a few comparison activity options to choose from. 

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class is about a fictional war. Some characters die or commit terrible acts. All language is kept age appropriate, but it is still a war and there is inherent violence.
Supply List
The art challenge will have a variety of options to choose from but may include basic art supplies such as paper and drawing utensils.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
