In this 8 week class, we will be be going over the tales of one of America's greatest writers, and the master of horror Edgar Allan Poe. We will be listening to audios of the various tales, and discuss the underlying themes of each story.

The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe The class will go over eight of Edgar Allan Poe's well known stories. As Poe is known to many as the master of horror, and an influence to other writers such as Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, HP Lovecraft, Stephen King, and Rod Serling. We will look at the underlying themes pertaining to each story, and discuss a new story each week. We will listen to an audio narration of each story, which will take up approximate one-third of the class, and spend the remaining time talk about the plot, and how the underlying theme ties into the story. I like to encourage discussion, and hope to makes class as engaging, and enjoyable as possible.
Learning Goals
The goals of this course is to have the student find an appreciation for literature in general, but also possibly to inspire them to tap into their own creative side. Whatever the format is, I believe everyone has a story to tell, and if I can inspire people to find that creative niche, then I feel I have achieved that goal. Poe as mentioned has been an inspiration for many in the art of literature, poetry, and even film having an influence on Tim Burton, Vincent Price, and Christopher Lee. I hope the student enjoys attending the class, as I hope to enjoy teaching it.

The Tell Tale Heart
To start the course we will begin with one of his most well stories, The Tell Tale Heart. We will focus on the underlying theme of guilt, and how guilt can effect one person's conscience in certain scenarios. 55 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
The Black Cat
The second week we will focus on The Black Cat. The underlying theme will focus on the potential of all individuals to commit great acts of morality, while at the same time can also commit acts of great evil. 55 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
The Pit and the Pendulum
The third week focuses on The Pit and Pendulum, where the underlying themes are death, fear, and time, but throughout the story we will also focus on the power of the individual, and the will to live in the face of what would seem overwhelming odds. 55 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
The Cask of Amontillado
The fourth week we will focus on The Cask of Amontillado, and the underlying themes being that of revenge, and betrayal. I also want to ask the question is the narrator the protagonist, or the antagonist. 55 mins online live lesson

Parental Guidance
The tales of Edgar Allan Poe as fascinating as they are, may deal with some themes, which some may feel are somewhat disturbing, and gruesome. Such themes as death, torture, madness, and revenge are relevant to the stories. Any concerns parents may have, by all means reach out to me, and I will do my best to answer any questions that you may have.

Hello to all,
I am online teacher, who has been teaching online since 2018. My experience has been teaching English to students living in their home countries. I would like to take my experience to the Outschool format, where not only would I assist in language learning, but a number of other topics. This would include the following:

Learn about the science of your favorite superheroes. What is the science behind some of your favorite superheroes, and how science is applied in their character.
4) The science of Super Villains
For those who are drawn to the dark side, this class is for you. Learn about the scientific background of some of your favorite villains. I take no responsibility if after this class, you decide to take over the world.
5) Gothic Literature
Gothic Literature is some of the most popular literature ever written. In this class I want to focus on what makes literature earn the Gothic Label, focusing on writers such as Mary Shelley, Robert Louis Stevenson, Bram Stoker, and Edgar Allan Poe.
6) Storytelling How to tell a good story
Storytelling is one thing that is common in all cultures, and it has grown throughout the years. But what makes a good story, and how do you tell it in a way, that not only grabs the attention of the audience, but also maintains it.
The values behind my teaching style is simply to make learning fun, and have people look at learning through a different perspective. I feel that as a teacher communication is important, so I try to talk with the student, and not at them, and I feel I can learn something from them too.
A little something about me, I like being creative, and tapping into my artistic side. I am currently writing my first book, and I believe everyone has a story to tell. I am currently teaching myself digital modeling, and after many years have decided to return to photography, and illustration. I also consider myself a polyglot in training, where I am currently studying nineteen languages.Reviews
