Class Experience

This group is open to anyone but is recommended for girls. In addition to critical thinking, the discussion panel interactions promote logic, confidence, and respect. Learners will be given opportunities to actively practice critical thinking, listening and speaking skills once a week over a 4-week period. The thought-provoking topic will be revealed at the beginning of the class, and learners will have time to jot down any key points they'd like to include in their discussion. Topics will not require background information or teacher lesson. Discussions are learner-led.

Once the discussion begins, learners are further encouraged to make notes based off others' contributions and participate in the chat box as well. Based on the side chat, I may pose new, off-shoot questions to probe further. In addition to critical thinking, the discussion panel interactions promote logic, confidence, and respect.

Each learner may actively participate or actively listen - either is acceptable. Learners will respect opinions and follow the group's code of conduct which includes:

⭐ courtesy muting while others are actively discussing, guaranteeing uninterruption and respect
⭐ hand raising to respectfully contribute ideas and opinions
⭐ support of one another because this is a personal empowerment group

Week 1: Are grades (A, B, C, D, F) necessary for learning?

Week 2: Is "fair" the same thing as "equal?"

Week 3: Is withholding information lying?

Week 4: Some people say Gen Z and Gen Alpha will not be able to run the world. What are some things that these generations can offer society?

Parental Guidance
Though I’ve never had an issue in class due to the mildness of topics chosen, and clearly defined expectations with learners upfront, should there ever be a problem with a highly emotional response or situation in which learners become upset, I will address the situation by stopping the panel, speaking with learners, rerouting the discussion, and notifying you.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
