The Sisterhood: Creative Writing Social Mixer Event
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
This August, we’ll follow our usual format, meeting once a week in our normal groups, BUT we’ll have an additional one-time special event, the Sisterhood Summer Social Mixer on Friday, August 2. Learners who have never attended a weekly Sisterhood session are welcome here! This will be an opportunity for learners to come together with fellow members from all 5 sections and for new friendships and creative opportunities. Like the usual weekly class, this one-time special event is a safe space and is designed for learners who are currently into creative writing and storytelling. All are welcome to join, but the Sisterhood is recommended for girls. It's a great fit for three types of kids: ✔️ the learner who is a solid writer and needs to be creatively challenged ✔️ the learner who is a storyteller but lacks confidence because of grammar and spelling mistakes ✔️ the learner who just wants a place to hang out, have fun with writing, and bond with others Members interact socially, learn to think outside the box with flexible thinking writing activities, build personal confidence, and bond with others who also enjoy creating fictional stories while practicing positive peer interaction. CLASS AGENDA ✔️ We'll start with fun video icebreakers to determine what you have in common with other learners. Sometimes silly, sometimes random, "video on" or "video off" if the video icebreaker statement applies to you! And we'll continue the fun with a few rounds of Sisterhood Emoji Wars! ✔️ We will follow up with a special round of fake definitions made by YOU! The extra challenge? Use them in a hilarious sentence, writers! Always great for a few laughs, we'll do multiple rounds to test your creative genius. ✔️ And finally, Ms. Val will spin the Word Wheel. What words will the wheel throw at you? And will you be able to use all the words to form a creative blurb? Only time will tell! ✔️ After class, anyone who'd like to stay for a few minutes may participate in the optional Show & Tell. CAMERAS ON SAFE SPACE Learners are required to have working cameras in the “on” position for the duration of class. Class is SAFER and more engaging. Please make sure your learner arrives with camera on. Black screens do not promote trust in a group. We operate in a respectful, supportive environment which promotes creativity and confidence. Truly, this is a special place to grow your storytelling and friend circle.
