The Sight Word Clubhouse: Weekly, Multi-sensory, Thematic Sight Word Practice

Learn to read with sight words! Do you have a beginner reader that is just starting to learn how to read?  Do you have an early reader that needs more sight word practice?  This class is the perfect class for beginner and early readers to start their journey with reading and learning sight words.  

This is a fun and engaging class that uses different themes each week to help learners practice and master their sight words.   Sight words, also called high frequency words, are an important part of early literacy and learning how to read.  I teach students how to sound out the parts of the word that they may know, and have them memorize the part that does not follow the rules they know.  This research driven approach is called the heart word technique, and research shows its the best way to learn "sight words".  Learning sight words helps our learners learn to read and become more fluent readers!  

This class does not build upon itself, therefore, you can drop in at any time during the year and start.

Learners will receive:
A copy of the sight word book for each week (written by me)
Flashcards with and without pictures to go with the sight words for the week
Worksheets to continue to practice

OUTLINE OF CLASS:
-Introduction to new words through sounding them out and chanting
-application of new words in a variety of different activities
-Sight word book or game
-Review of words
-Let's share (I like to give my learners a few minutes to share, it could be something related to the topic or just something that happened that day.  I like to validate their their thoughts and encourage their excitement for learning)

My Policies:  

My Muting Policy:  I try my best not to mute learners.  It is my goal to have all learners unmuted at all times during class and to use classroom management techniques to provide for a quality learning experience.  However, sometimes if there is a lot of background noise I will have to mute the learner to provide that quality experience that is expected.  

Refund policy:  I follow Outschool's refund policy.  I will message parents if there is a low enrollment class (1 learner), to see if their learner will still like to come to class.  In this case, if the learner does not want to be the only student I will refund the class.  I always teach class even with one learner.   However, I understand that some learners do not want to be the only student in class.  

Teacher Cancellation:  I try my very best to give at least 24 hours notice if I have to cancel class.  I do not like to disappoint any learners last minute, unless there is an emergency. If it is last minute all learners will be refunded.

Technology problems:  I will do my best to quickly help learners fix easy tech problems in class. However, since there are usually other learners in class I can not spend a lot of time.  Please contact Outschool immediately if you are having a problem.  I understand that things happen.  They even happen to me at times! Outschool tech support will help you.

Late Policy:  I start all of my lessons promptly at class start time.  I understand things happen and all learners will always be welcomed with a smile, even if they are late. However, no refunds are given if late, and no unpaid transfers.
