This course is one of four that evaluates the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Starting with the three stages of the Roman Empire (broken down by The Period of Kings, Republican Rome, and Imperial Rome), this series of classes will end with Roman Mythology. In this six week course, Imperial Rome, students will explore the Roman Empire through a critical lens. Each week students will learn about key figures and battles which helped to build Rome, and ultimately end the oligarchy. Students will be presented with an array of resources to help navigate and understand the societal structure. Students will be required to answer comprehension questions each week. To assess knowledge gained, students will present their understanding of the causes for the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Week 1: Students will learn about Julius Caesar and how Rome transitioned from a Republic to Imperial Rome. Week 2: Students will compare the governmental structure of Imperial Rome, while contrasting and comparing to Western government. Week 3: Students will continue to learn about the government and famous wars of the time. Week 4: Students will learn about society, art, and trade during this time period. Week 5: Students will continue to learn about Roman culture and leading causes of the fall of the Roman Empire. Week 6: Students will complete a review of the course and present on knowledge gained, by focusing on a historical figure from the time period.

Get ready for an incredible educational adventure! I am thrilled to introduce two dynamic series: "A Journey Through Time" and "Future Scholars." "A Journey Through Time" will immerse you in the fascinating world of historical periods, while "Future Scholars" will ignite your passion for research and writing.
As a dedicated business owner, education is the key to unlocking future success. My educational journey began with a Bachelor's in Psychology from Mary Baldwin College in 2010. After graduation, I embraced a teaching assistant role at a Montessori school in Staunton, Virginia, which sparked my love for education. I then pursued a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University online, professionally tutoring and working as a training supervisor for the state government. My love for learning and history propelled me to achieve a doctorate from Walden University in March 2019.
My passion for tutoring and mentoring led me to establish my own consulting business, offering educational consulting services in Richmond, Virginia's local school systems. Over the years, I've taught high school US History and provided tutoring and teaching services in social sciences and English to students aged two to 68. I firmly believe that anyone can learn with the right guidance and support.
I am driven by a passion for not only learning but also spreading knowledge. I advocate for teaching critical thinking and life skills through core subjects, moving beyond mere test preparation. I encourage open discussions about historical events, exploring how we can learn from the past to create a better future.
Beyond the classroom, I bring a wealth of diverse experiences. An interesting fact about me is that I'm ambidextrous, which means I can write and do everything with both hands! I love animals, reading, hiking, swimming, and watching documentaries on history and nature.
Join me on this exciting journey of discovery and growth. Let's unlock the doors to knowledge and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow together!
