US Grade 3 - 6
Students will be taught how to determine if a sentence is a complete sentence. First students will learn prepositional words in order to identify prepositional phrases within a sentence. The trick is to eliminate the prepositional phrases to determine if the part of the sentence has only one subject and one verb. This session will be taught sequentially providing the vocabulary and background before putting students' knowledge to practice. Students will be invited to engage in the lesson following simple exercises that will later be applied to the task of identifying a run-on, fragment, or complete sentence.
Learning Goals
Students will learn what a prepositional word, propositional phrase, subject, and a verb is to determine if the sentence is complete and correct.
