With an eye to the starring roles prepositions play in Robert Burleigh's poem/picture book, "Hoops," students in this 6-week poetry class will take a close look at this work––along with others that spotlight Burleigh's favorite part of speech––then draft and revise preposition-propelled poetry of their own.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
This class will involve the use of the following approved third-party tools: Google Drive, Kahoot, Quizizz. Students will respond to questions designed to assess comprehension and promote analysis and reflection in games on Quizizz and Kahoot. They will draft and revise their poems in a Google doc preloaded with prompts, templates, and word banks to scaffold their success.
Supply List
Students will each work on their own copy of a Google doc supplied by the teacher, scaffolded with prompts, word banks, and structure templates that guide students through the writing process.
